Free seminar offers foreclosure, short sale advice for homeowners
Founded by Realtors® and Certified Distressed Property Experts (CDPE) Tami Ritz and Nicole Reel, New Start Nevada is presenting a series of free workshops open to the community. “Our purpose is to bring greater understanding and solutions to foreclosure as well as provide a detailed explanation of short sales, which maybe be the best course of action for some homeowners,” said Ritz. RealtyTrac ranks Reno-Sparks ninth among U.S. metro areas in foreclosures, at one foreclosure filing in every 183 housing units in April, 2011, compared to one in 593 nationwide during the same month.
Panelists at the seminar include Reno real estate attorney Judith A. Otto, whose practice specializes in working with clients facing foreclosure, and Tami Ritz and Nicole Reel, Realtors with Keller Williams Realty Group One, Inc. Topics covered will include:
• Who qualifies for a short sale
• The difference between loan modifications, short sales and foreclosure
• Tax and credit implications
• Post-short sale recovery techniques
• How to avoid fraud in the distressed sales market
Attendees will be able to ask questions after the presentations and also will be given handouts including financial worksheet, sample hardship letter and contact information for resources.
“When the real estate market changed dramatically in our region, many homeowners were caught in financial and legal situations they’d never faced before,” said Reel. “Bringing dignified solutions to struggling homeowners in our community is our number one goal,”
