TheatreWorks of Northern Nevada delivers drama and history in Stage Fright
History, intrigue and revenge come together in the next TheatreWorks of Northern Nevada production, Stage Fright, a play by Charles Marowitz. The production runs at 8pm, May 4, 5, 11 and 12 and at 2pm, May 6 and 13 at the McKinley Arts Center, 925 Riverside Drive in Reno.
In the play, a leading metropolitan drama critic is led by an attractive production assistant into a recently discovered nineteenth-century theater. The critic plans to film a television interview there for a documentary on the actor John Wilkes Booth, who once acted on those very boards. The critic, F.F. Charnick, is notorious for his venomous reviews. But nothing is as it seems: Charnick is kidnapped and the full weight of a career of devastating reviews may cost him his life.
Stage Fright stars local actors Brian Ault, Cecil Averett and Kristina Harris and is directed by David Zybert and Corinne Hasenau. The production is suitable for ages 16 and older. Ticket prices are $12 general admission and $10 seniors and students. For reservations and more information, go to www.twnn.org or call 775-284-0789.
